It is with deep regret that Sun Sports Football club have folded.

Since the company was formed way back in 1898 and the Watford based football team started in 1921 the club has seen it’s ups and downs but never have they had to give up.

The reason for this is due to the new people who have taken over the social club, members of a well loved Sun player who would be turning in his grave now.

At the end of last season, a fantastic season in which two great cup runs in the FA Cup and FA Vase brought the club in some much needed money.

This money was stolen, the people involved were removed, and new people brought in. However, the new people were also associated with the others and decided to run the club into the ground by demanding that the club pay them £20,000 per season for the Under 18’s, Reserves and First Team to play at the ground that Mr Edward Hunter brought solely for Sun Engraving employees way back in 1936.

Sun Sports FC could not afford to pay these ridiculous demands and the new owners refused to budge.

Things came to a point at the Crawley Green home match and after an emergency committee meeting on Thursday the new owners said that they would lock the doors to stop anyone gaining admittance.

Jim Kempster, the club’s Chairman and loyal servant of Sun Sports FC for over 40 years, has had no choice but to close the football club down.

The Sun played football  through the second world war, and even beat Robert Maxwell from buying the ground, but finally the club has sadly folded through greed of people with no interest in football.

Maybe one day the Sun will return to Watford?

Maybe the club will re–form and play elsewhere in Watford?

Sun Sports Football Club would like to thank everybody who has ever been involved in the football club, you will never be forgotten.
