The return fixture between Sun Sports and Kinja SFC took place on Saturday with seven goals between the teams.

After a spate of confusion as to what pitch the Sun would be playing on it was finally decided that pitch 4 would be the best one…flashbacks of Sunday league football sprang to mind to many!!

Two more of the Spartan League old boys came down to Aldenham Road to play for the Sun, with Ashley Lewis and George Hobson playing an integral part of the Sun’s performance.

And it was George who scored the first goal of the game, thanks to a through ball from Paulo Deritis which George hit with some venom, beating the Kinja keeper as the ball found the inside of the side netting.

There were also promising signs that the Sun of earlier this season were on show as some fantastic three man intricate passing pulled the Kinja midfield apart on more than one occasion.

Ashley Lewis was certainly not afraid to let fly from distance and Hamze Ali dragged a shot just wide of the far post.

But if the boys in yellow though that the game was a forgone conclusion they soon found themselves pegged back as the Sun defence melted away to allow a Kinja attack through the box.

Last week’s scorer, Deji Ikusemori, saw his header from a corner cleared off the line and the Sun looked like they would take the lead again when Hamze was felled in the area for a blatant penalty.

Up stepped Hamze to take the spot kick but his shot was saved by the Kinja keeper and to make matters worse the Sun’s amount of possession came to nothing at the end of the first 45 minutes when a lob from 25 yards found Sun keeper Luke Furlong off his line and unable to stop the ball from going in to give Kinja the lead.

But the second half continued as much as he first had, with Sun controlling the match with the help of Lewis Craze and George Hobson’s dangerous shots at range troubling the Kinja goalie.

From a corner the referee penalised Kinja for holding in the box and awarded a penalty. Ashley Lewis stepped up and confidently smashed the ball into the net to make it 2-2.

Minutes later and another penalty was awarded for handball in the Kinja box. Ashley Lewis took the opportunity to score again from 12 yards and in a case of deja vu again powered the spot kick in with the keeper having no chance.

3-2 to the Sun and all was looking good.

Hamze Ali was giving the Kinja defence nightmares and another one of his efforts just went narrowly wide

Ashley thought he’d had his hat trick when a move that started from keeper Luke Furlong’s long throw out to Hamze Ali who. after a lung busting run then slotted a pass through to George Hobson, who flicked the ball to Ashley but he was flagged for offside as the ball hit the net.

A neat one- two from the great looking partnership of Hobson and Lewis saw George lash his second and the Sun’s fourth goal of the game.

The match was finished off by “Super-sub” Dan Regan’s determination in the box after dispossessing a defender of the ball and slipping the ball past the keeper to make it a comfortable win for the Sun.
